With sustainability climbing the agenda throighout higher education, many universities are rethinking how they teach it – not just in environmental science programmes but across the board. What does meaningful integration of sustainability into varied curricula look like in practice, and how can educators bring students with them on the journey towards understanding and addressing climate change?

This 60-minute webinar explores practical ways to embed sustainability into teaching and assessment. Our expert panellists discuss how to engage students in climate-conscious learning, build sustainability into course design and connect it to employability and wider social responsibility. They are:

Edson Kieu is a lecturer in the strategy, international business and entrepreneurship division at Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University. His research spans strategic management and international political economy and he co-authored the 2021 book Climate Change and Food Security in Asia Pacific: Response and Resilience

Ethan Chong is head of sustainability (education and research) at Singapore Institute of Technology. He develops the institution’s strategy for educational programmes in sustainability and works to extend applied research on sustainability related issues.

Jo-Anne Ferreira is dean of learning and teaching futures at the University of Southern Queensland. She leads the development and implementation of innovative learning and teaching strategies that impact practice across the university.

Daniel Yonto is assistant professor in the department of urban planning and design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. His research focuses upon how climate change is impacting South-east Asian cities and he teaches an environmental sustainability course.
