About the area

The School of Social Sciences offers a rich learning and research environment spanning a number of disciplinary and interdisciplinary themes with a focus on the applied social sciences. As well as undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the School supports an active research program.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver innovative teaching in Human Geography, focusing on Australian rural and regional development; contribute to curriculum development; supervise students at all levels; support student placements and assessment practices; and build teaching collaborations with other universities.
  • Develop and lead independent research programs with a national profile; publish in high-ranking journals; secure external research funding; and contribute to the School’s longstanding strengths in rural and regional development, economic innovation, and social change.
  • Actively participate in School and University service; promote inclusion, diversity, and UWA’s core values; engage with industry, government, and community stakeholders to enhance teaching and research; and undertake administrative duties as required.

About you

  • PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses in Human Geography.
  • An emerging national research profile.
  • Demonstrated commitment to embedding UWA’s core values of openness, honesty, tolerance, fairness and responsibility in all aspects of work
